Our first time out in the boat

Yah!! The boat fit in the back of the truck. Altho, a trailer would be nice...kinda heavy to lift!

Yes, that is Andy, on the phone. No, he's not trying to figure out how to attach it. He is trying to figure out how to start it! The motor was already on once, we sat in the boat and then put it back in the truck! We couldn't get it started. Once we got back home, Andy cleaned the spark plugs, tinkered with it and it started. Back to the water.

Score keeping.....Nancy 5, Andy 3 1/2 fish!! I say 1/2 fish because it was soooo small it could have been used for bait! Most of the fish were just pan fish, but I did catch a base about 10-12 inches! All were catch and release! No living creature harmed during this fun.

After all this rain, the garden is looking good! Andy put up the "fence" to keep the wildlife out. Althought, it isn't protecting the mole from getting under the soil. But....plants still look great.

Living here is like Little House on the Prairie. Monday is laundry day, then I hang it up on the line to dry (all day). Once a week we drive 30 miles (one way) to do our weekly shopping at Walmarts, Home Depot and possibly Walgreens. One day is yard day....cut the 3/4 acres by push behind mower, weed the vegetable garden and flower gardens. Talk about country living! Then, any day is fishing day!! Got that new boat/trolling motor....still can't catch any fish. Sure thought that boat would be the answer! Oh, and every other Saturday, we drive our garbage to the dump transfer and recycling site. Exciting! When I was growing up here in the 1960's, there was actually a "dump" close to the transfer area. My dad would drive us there at night to watch for the bears to come out and eat. Now, that was Saturday night entertainment.

Oh the weather!!

It has been raining for 3 days straight....this is now the 4th day of dark, grey skies with cold misty air. All the lights are on inside. Chilly at night we even had to have a fire in the evening!! Oh...this is summer in northern Michigan! Also, it has been 2 weeks since I wore shorts.

We have no projects going either. Since the craft sales didn't work out (YET!), we have not done anything but read, watch TV and play on the computer!! Bored.
We haven't even been able to take our 2 mile walk in 3 days. So that makes us sluggish.

Almost wish we could go to work.....

Our new adventure

Andy and I were brain storming on how to make extra spending money, without having to find a real job. So we decided to make crafts and sell them at local craft shows this summer. So, we got busy sawing, painting and glueing all hours of the night. Most craft shows charge $30.00 to $50.00 a day to have a 10 x 10 space; that eats into our profit. BUT, our local flea market has spots for $10.00 for both weekend days!!! Great...so we think. Bought ourself a REAL CHEAP canopy and set up our "little store". Two days of sitting in the sun (too windy for the cheap canopy. Might hurt someone when it blows away) and we sold nothing. Yes, nothing! So now we have early birthday and Christmas gifts for our families.

We may try one craft show because I am convinced we have cool stuff and they are priced right. Just different kind of people attending those flea markets....too many men for one. Unless any one out there in cyber world wants to buy something they see!?!

We both had grand plans for the money we were going to make. Andy wants a golf course GPS. Huh, something I think you could live without. Me, on the other hand, wanted to buy a plane ticket (actually two) to visit with Amanda in Baltimore and then one to Florida to visit with the grand kids. Sorry kids.

We are growing a garden this summer and the onions and green beans are coming up. Maybe we can set up a vegetable stand on M-33.

Making time for blogging....

It has been a while since I have blogged, but I assumed no one was out there reading. Well, I guess my youngest daughter checks from time to time and has been disappointed to find no entry.

This is a great way for me to "journal" about my journey through life. So...I need to make time and get caught up on the happenings around me. I had told Amanda I have been too busy to blog and she laughed. "How can you be so busy living in Mio!" But we have started a new adventure....crafting, wood-working and attempting to sell them a our local flea market (or if Andy has his way, out of the back of our truck on the side of the road!).

But, before I fill you in on our projects, I need to back up a few months and get you up-dated on what you have missed!

This winter and early spring, we became new grand parents again. Now that is a total of four!!

On February 23, Neal and Claudia had their second boy, Victor Orion York. Claudia was certain she was going to deliver early, so I was asked to arrive in Michigan by early February and we waited and waited....almost 3 weeks before she was induced a week after her due date. Although, we all rejoiced!! Big brother Ricardo was amazed at how small he was at birth. I think he expected him to arrive "big" enough to play video games with him!

Also, Alyson and Chris had their second child, a boy, Keaton William Beaudoin who was born 7 weeks after Victor, on April 17th. Alyson barely made it to the hospital, only arriving about an hour before delivery! Not in time for an epidural, therefore she had a "natural childbirth". Their oldest, Kailey, wasn't to sure about a new sibling invading her space (having been the Queen Bee for 11 years) but she was way to excited to meet him when he arrived!!
